Marla D. Pelletier, CYT, RYT
Marla began Devi Yoga in January of 2007 teaching private yoga
classes and workplace yoga. Devi (pronounced DEH-vee) means
goddess and is Marla's middle name as well as her paternal
grandmother's middle name. For a long time Marla had not felt
connected to her Indian culture, and when she began integrating yoga
she began to feel the deep connection to not just her culture, but all life.
Marla is a Syracuse University graduate and received her B.A. in
English with a focus on writing. She worked in the communications
industry before beginning her company. Marla has traveled throughout
the world improving her practice and knowledge of yoga. While
teaching English in Bangkok to 13 & 14 year olds she used yoga to
calm and focus her talkative students. In Thailand she also studied
various healing techniques: Shamballa Reiki, Thai Massage and Crystal
Therapy. Marla has also been trained in Integrated Energy Therapy or
IET.
While studying Raja & Hatha Yoga in India she is grateful to have been
trained by Bharath Shetty at Yoga India in Mysore, by the Sivananda
Institute in Kerala, and to have practiced Yoga in Action in Rishikesh.
Every year she travels around the country increasing
her toolbox. The trainings she takes each year are a
response to the needs of her students. In 2008 she took
an anatomy of shoulders and hips training with Suzi
Aldous Hately. In January of 2009, she became a certified
LifeForce Yoga practitioner under Amy Weintraub. She
now offers Yoga to Beat the Blues workshops which
focus on how we can embrace all the dualities of mood.

Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. - Rumi

Tom Somerville, MS, MST, RYI
Tom is a native of Rochester. In February, 2000, Tom underwent 6
hours of spinal reconstructive surgery that left him in a wheelchair
with a very poor prognosis for ever walking again. It was in physical
therapy that he recognized several exercises were yoga postures.
Knowing that his medical insurance would not pay for too much
physical therapy given the poor prognosis he began picking the
therapists' brains and, yes, they said most of the physical therapy they
had him doing was based on yoga.
Tom began studying yoga seriously at that time. While sitting in class
he would think, "When I teach I am going to do it this way," and
daydream of helping others the way his yoga instructors helped him.
After Tom recovered he began work to become a Certified Yoga
Instructor. He now holds a certification in
Yogafit Level 1-3, Senior/Adaptive Yoga and has a Yoga Alliance
200 hour registration and is fully recovered from his surgery
beyond his doctors' expectations.
Tom teaches at local health clubs, a chiropractic office,
private studios and give private lessons. He is currently
working towards his 500 hour teaching certification.
Tom also teaches meditation. He is proud to be a part
of Devi Yoga.

Carrie Herscovici
Carrie has studied yoga since 1994, dedicating herself to intense
independent practice, research and study. She has studied in Los Angeles
under yoga mentors Steve Ross, Matthew Reyes, Bryan Kest and Ish
Moran. She is certified at the 200 hour level with Yoga Alliance. Her yoga
philosophy and dedication led her to India where she continued her study
of yoga under guru Dr. Senthil Kumar, in Connor India. After a serious
automobile accident, Carrie found that yoga allowed her to heal her body,
mind and spirit. Discovering the healing power of yoga provided Carrie
the inspiration to teach and share the healing power of yoga with others.
“I came to yoga seeking a fun form of exercise and my practice quickly
became a sacred time of renewal and exploration. 14 years later, I
gratefully go to my mat daily because I know the tremendous healing,
rejuvenating and transformative powers of yoga. It is my primary
objective to help students come to know that yoga will organically heal
and guide them. Yoga is a beautiful continual process that grows and
changes each day. As a teacher it is my job to help students to be at ease
where they are in the moment, to help empower them and enjoy the
journey in the process together." Carrie's teaching style motivates her
students to feel cared for as she inspires them to experience the magic of
yoga. Her compassion for people helps her students to feel comfortable
in their own bodies through their own yoga practice.
Other than Yoga, Carrie is a Reiki Practitioner, Level 2, and currently
takes private clients. She studied under Mary McFadyen, the Founder of
Reiki Outreach and a student of Madam Takata. Contact her directly if
you would like a Reiki healing session.
Carrie currently teaches studio classes and private instruction
upon request. Carrie volunteers to provide yoga instruction to
women with eating disorders at a local hospital. Check out

Ustrasana (Camel's Pose)
is a dynamic back bend
that should only be
practiced after a series of
heat buiding exercises like
Sun Salutations. Ustrasana
is a great heart-opening
pose that allows us to let
go of fear and
discouragement.

Sarah Lamb
Sarah Lamb is a 500 hour certified Hatha and Laughter yoga
instructor. She has trained at Prana Yoga college in Vancouver, B.C.,
with Swami Vivekenanda at Agama Yoga in Thailand, and Yogafit. She
started Inner Bloom Yoga in 2006, which offers Stress Release
workshops and classes at local colleges, schools and in small groups.
She began her journey into yoga when her sister Rebecca died
suddenly in 2000 and the amazing healing powers of Restorative yoga
were presented to her. Since then, she has decided to share yoga with
others in order to facilitate a journey into oneself where that inner
flower that is our true self can bloom. For Sarah, yoga is not only a
practice on the mat—rather, it is a way of life.
Her class offerings include a breathing focused class, back care class,
gentle yoga, restorative yoga, and Yin Yoga.
